Comments for Buying a duplex as your first home

41 yo professional single white male 1st time home buyer (I guess the race was too much information). My car is paid for and I have about $60K in cash and about $60K in 401k. Career hasn't been so good the last couple years but I think I'm turning the corner. Not sure if I'll have to move again or not, so I'm thinking to get the "1st time buyer" credit I should buy something on the cheaper side in case I have to move, it is less of a liability (in general). Is the $8,000 you have to pay back if you move pro-rated? Thinking of something on the east side as I have friends/family in Ohio. I travel for work.
